AT least seven people were killed and more than a dozen injured today, when an explosion ripped through a garrison neighbourhood in Multan, a major city in Pakistan’s Punjab province, police said.
The blast occurred at an army check post next to the local headquarters of the country’s military Inter Services Intelligence spy agency.
The bombing also devastated several houses in a nearby military residential compound. People were believed to be trapped in some partially collapsed buildings.
An official at the city’s police control room said seven bodies and 15 injured had so far been moved to the local hospital. Three soldiers and two children are among the dead.
