Europe’s biggest lender by assets, BNP Paribas, has appointed Kieran Fahy as CEO of its SA unit.
Fahy has more than two decades of experience within banking and financial services, most recently spending the past four years as a member of BNP Paribas’s Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) corporate coverage management team, the Paris-headquartered bank said in a statement.
Fahy has a wealth of professional experience, holding senior positions within BNP Paribas including CEO for BNP Paribas Sweden, where he also headed the Stockholm branch.
Before joining BNP Paribas in 2002, Fahy also worked for JPMorgan in Dublin, and Chase Manhattan Bank, in London and Dublin.
“We are confident that he will continue to develop our business in SA, progressing the bank’s sustainable finance agenda and working with both local and multinational clients to provide best in class services and solutions,” Amine Bel Hadj Soulami, head of BNP Paribas Middle East and Africa, said in a statement.
BNP Paribas has a presence in 71 countries and more than 198,000 employees, and its presence in SA consists of a full commercial branch, which acts as a regional hub for operations in Southern Africa.
