Sibanye-Stillwater has bolstered its board with the appointment of former auditor-general Terence Nombembe as an independent nonexecutive director — cementing his reputation as one of the most sought-after directors.
With a BCom from the University of Transkei and an honours degree in accounting science from the University of SA, Nombembe has experience in accounting, auditing, risk management, corporate governance and stakeholder management, Sibanye said in its announcement.
Nombembe served as SA auditor-general from 2006 to 2013, before taking the role of CEO at the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants from 2014 to 2019.
He is an independent nonexecutive director at Nedbank and served as a non-executive director of the SA Reserve Bank before stepping down in 2023.
He holds several honorary awards, including the Jorg Kandutsch Excellence Award from the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions.
