Steyn City, the luxury lifestyle estate north of Johannesburg now offers freestanding homes, apartments and retail stores to complement the secure living environment.
In 2021 Steyn City launched City Centre, its flagship apartment-living development, and in May 2023, unveiled its retail offering with curated stores for its residents.
“Our new retail component officially launched earlier this year, brings a mix of convenient dining options and retail shops to the City Centre,” said Zoe van Onselen, head of marketing at Steyn City Properties.
Retail brands at the City Centre include Le Creuset, The Gallery at Steyn City in association with Knysna Fine Art and Everard Read, Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream, Seattle Coffee Co and Café del Sol, a family-owned Italian restaurant.
Van Onselen said stores measure from 30m2-500m2 with the next store rollout scheduled for 2026.
In 2024 new tenants are to be introduced, including Pack Life Gym, Laundry at Steyn City, Cocoon Lifestyle interior Design & Décor Studio by Bilala Mabuza, a new co-working space, a barber and a florist.
Van Onselen said Steyn City developments are constantly evolving. Residents who buy into the City Centre have full access to the amenities in the greater estate. The estate has features such as the Lagoon facility and padel courts — and will open a new restaurant and an outlet of The Family Pantry, a convenience store at the Lagoon facility.
Phase One of City Centre apartments offers 187 units ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom double-storey homes. Prices range from R2.6m to R33m. Once complete, City Centre will have 700 apartments.
To make the apartments accessible, there are rental options and a rent-to-own model, whereby tenants can rent an apartment normally for two years after which they are able to purchase the unit.
During the two-year period, tenants save on levies, rates and taxes they would incur if they owned the unit. Additionally, the rental amount for two years is deducted from the agreed purchase price.
