Olympus Sandton, the high-end residential and retail development, has generated sales of R940m even before breaking ground with 295 residential units sold since going on offer on February 27.

The Athena, the development’s first 24-storey residential tower, has sold 227 of its 288 apartments. The premium units are priced between R1.49m and R7.2m for studios, and one- and two-bedroom apartments, while penthouses cost between R14m and R45m.

The R1bn project, developed by Growthpoint in partnership with Tricolt, is part of Sandton Summit precinct at the intersection of Rivonia Road and Katherine Street. The development is anchored by Discovery’s head office, in which Growthpoint holds a 55% stake and Zenprop the remainder.

“The exceptional sales momentum has accelerated the Olympus Sandton development timeline, and we can confirm that construction of both towers should commence in the latter part of 2025 and early 2026,” said Neil Schloss, Growthpoint’s head of asset management.

Tricolt chair Tim Kloeck said: “Olympus Sandton sales are exceeding all expectations. In response to the overwhelming demand, we are pleased to announce the immediate release of apartments for sale in the second tower, The Apollo.”

The initial 68 of 224 apartments at The Apollo were snapped up upon their release.

According to the sales team, buyers have highlighted Olympus Sandton’s prime location as one of its key attractions. The development offers top amenities, and a dynamic neighbourhood, making it a highly desirable address.

Buyers have also been attracted to the development’s 360-degree views of Johannesburg.
