Former Dimension Data MD Nompumelelo Mokou has joined the board of iOCO as an independent nonexecutive director as the group bulks up its board with technology skills.

Mokou’s appointment was effective from March 19, iOCO, formerly EOH, said on Thursday, in the latest in a series of leadership changes in the past year.

Ravaged by scandal, the company has made a concerted effort to salvage its reputation after allegations of malpractice and tender irregularities under the previous leadership.

The listed technology group said Mokou “brings a wealth of experience from her distinguished career at Dimension Data”.

Mokou stepped down from her role as MD of Dimension Data’s Southern Africa business in March 2024. A chartered accountant, Mokou first took on the role in April 2021.

She joined Dimension Data in 2016, having previously held positions at auditor EY, cofounded a project management company, was a director at accounting firm Ngubane and was chair of the Business Women’s Association of SA’s Soweto branch.

At the time, Mokou was tasked with pushing forward the group’s One Dimension Data strategy in Southern Africa.

She was also the chair of the audit committee of the Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sports Seta from 2015 to 2019.

In her new role, Mokou chairs iOCO’s audit and risk committee, replacing Rhys Summerton, who is now CEO. The committee comprises: Mokou, Andrew Marshall and Veronica Motloutsi.

“The board welcomes Ms Mokou and looks forward to her contribution to iOCO,” said the company.

In February, former acting boss Marius de la Rey stepped down as interim CEO and executive director of the company.

The group announced the appointment of joint CEOs Dennis Venter and Summerton to fill the leadership gap. Both had been nonexecutive directors of the group and hold 25% of iOCO’s equity between them.
