MTN Ghana on Tuesday reported growth in service revenue and earnings despite a challenging macroeconomic environment.
The telecommunications giant achieved a 34.5% year-on-year increase in service revenue, reaching 17.9-billion Ghanaian cedi (R23.2bn), outperforming its medium-term growth targets.
This performance was driven by expansion in data, mobile money (MoMo) and digital services, even as the company navigated persistent inflation and a 19.2% depreciation of the Ghana cedi over the period.
Operationally, MTN Ghana’s subscriber base grew 6.5% to 28.5-million, with active data subscribers rising 13.7% to
17.5-million and active MoMo users up 12.8% to 17.2-million.
