The Lamborghini Temerario made its first appearance in SA when it was unveiled at an exclusive reveal hosted by Lamborghini Johannesburg, at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit last week.
The petrol-electric coupé made its global debut in August and succeeds the Huracán as the Italian firm’s junior supercar. It is the latest model in the Lamborghini high performance electrified vehicle (HPEV) range after the Revuelto. With the recent launch of the Urus SE, the Temerario marks the completion of the Lamborghini’s hybrid transformation.
The hybrid car pairs a 4.0l V8 bi-turbo engine with three electric motors to unleash a combined 686kW for a top speed of 343 km/h and a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 2.7 seconds. On show under a glass cover, the V8 engine revs to 10,000rpm for a sensational aural experience. Two electric motors with a total peak output of 220kW and up to 2,150Nm of torque drive the front axle to achieve all-wheel drive, with a single rear electric motor at the rear, and the drivetrain is completed by an eight-speed dual clutch transmission.
The Temerario can be driven on purely electric power in Città (city) mode, or in Strada (street), Sport and Corsa (race) modes selectable by the driver. The driver can also activate a Drift Mode with three settings.
Lamborghini’s latest supercar has 103% more rear downforce than the Huracán EVO, increasing to +158% if the car has the optional Alleggerita lightweight pack. To ensure optimal grip through corners, electric torque vectoring distributes power to each wheel as conditions demand.
The two-seater Temerario is designed with an innovative multi-technology aluminium spaceframe engineered to withstand the enhanced demands of its hybrid power unit. It has a larger and more comfortable cabin than its forerunner, and also Lamborghini’s most advanced multimedia system yet.
The Temerario has typical Lamborghini design cues with muscular aviation-inspired lines and a hexagonal theme throughout the car including the side air intakes and lights.
Inside, the combination of digital screens and mechanical and physical buttons such as the iconic start button or the racing car inspired steering wheel, results in the unique experience of “pilot interaction”, says Lamborghini.
Lamborghini specialists were at the Kyalami presentation to guide attendees through the vast customisation options available via the Ad Personam programme, which offers more than 400 exterior colours, personalised interior choices, and bespoke trim selections — ensuring each Temerario is unique.
The price is R7.5m and order books are open. The Temerario is expected in SA in the first quarter of 2026.
