Maserati SA warns potential customers of unauthorised outlets falsely claiming to be official Maserati dealers and service centres.
Motor News is in possession of a document circulated by the brand internally and to its customers.
“These claims are untrue and potentially harmful to our customers,” says the company in the letter.
Maserati SA says it operates under Casa Vehicle Holdings (CVH Auto Group) and is the sole authorised importer, distributor and aftersales provider for Maserati in the country.
Maserati SA sells and services its products out of dealerships located in Bryanston, Johannesburg and a Cape Town satellite service centre. Both locations feature fully fledged showroom and workshop facilities staffed by technicians trained at the Maserati Academy in Modena, Italy, it says.
The aftersales division is led by Stefano Zanetti and Jacques Geluk, under the supervision of dealer principal Donovan Eley.
The warning of caution comes after reports of customers being lured by unauthorised dealers in Johannesburg and Cape Town purporting to be official retailers of new Maseratis. The company declined to name the unauthorised operators.
Maserati SA warned that the risk to a vehicle being handled by unauthorised service centres included voiding of the factory warranty, compromised vehicle safety and exposure to non-approved parts.
