Chery SA has introduced the new Tiggo 8 CSH (Chery Super Hybrid). The latest model follows the local launches of the Tiggo Cross CSH Hybrid and Tiggo 7 CSH Plug-in Hybrids and expands the offerings in the seven-seat SUV range that consists of the entry Chery Tiggo 8 Pro 1.6 TGDI 290T Executive 290T, and Pro Max 2.0 TGDI 390T Executive available in front and all-wheel drive (AWD) derivatives.

The latest addition is a front-wheel drive plug-in-hybrid that blends an 18.3kWh battery driving an electric motor with a new and smaller capacity 1.5l petrol four-cylinder engine for more power and efficiency, with a combined system output of 255kW and 525Nm. It’s the most powerful Chery Tiggo 8 derivative to date, though the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max 2.0TGDI 390T Executive AWD is the range topper with a price of R731,900.

The new model commands R729,900. Its hybrid drivetrain is rated with a combined fuel consumption figure of 1.3l/100km, or 5.2l/100 km when the state of charge drops below 30%.

It has a pure electric drive range of up to 90km with a total combined range of 1,200km promised from a single full tank and charge. It’s easily identified with a model-specific diamond-pattern grille, sportier front bumper, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

It is a versatile seven-seater SUV with flexible 2+3+2 seating and a 494l boot. With the second and third row seats folded flat, it offers up to 494l of luggage space. Standard luxuries are soft black synthetic leather-clad seats, with the front pair heated and ventilated with massage function. It also has a panoramic sunroof, 540° camera, adaptive cruise control, electric tailgate, automatic LED headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a 12-speaker Sony sound system.

The latest addition to the Chery hybrid line-up family comes standard with a seven-year/90,000km service plan, a seven-year/200,000km warranty, 10-year/unlimited km battery warranty, and a 10-year/one-million km engine warranty for the first owner transferable to a second owner if vehicle is purchased from Chery pre-owned dealership.
