THE latest rolling heat wave to scorch SA will persist until Friday over the western parts of the maize belt, the South African Weather Service said on Wednesday.
"Over Gauteng, Limpopo, the Northwest and western and northern Free State, the conditions will continue until Friday," the Weather Service said in a statement.
The Northwest and the Free State are key grain growing areas.
SA’s maize crop has been threatened by an intense drought, pushing domestic prices for the grain to record highs.
