The post office has clinched a payments contract with the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) to start distributing social grants to 17-million South Africans from April next year. But the South Africa Post Office’s (Sapo’s) Postbank will not be the only vendor licensed to pay grants — there will be three other avenues that can be used in this hybrid model system that will be phased in over five years.
