South Africans go to the polls on Wednesday in what has been touted as the most crucial election since the advent of the democratic era 25 years ago.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, who has attempted to frame himself as the change candidate despite being deputy to Jacob Zuma during the latter’s second term, which was marked by increasingly brazen corruption and state capture, faces a challenge on two fronts.
