The first part of the report into allegations of state capture, corruption and fraud will be published next week after acting chief justice Raymond Zondo hands it to President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Tuesday.
Minister in the presidency Mondli Gungubele gave this undertaking at a post cabinet media briefing on Friday, saying that publication will definitely take place next week.
“President Ramaphosa has decided that each part of the report will be released to the public immediately after it is submitted to the president by the commission,” Gungubele said.
He said Zondo was ready to hand over the report on Friday as required by a court judgment, but due to the mourning period in honour of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, it was decided that he would do so on Tuesday.
In terms of a Gauteng high court judgment handed down earlier this week Zondo will submit the second part of his report at the end of January and the third part at the end of February.
Ramaphosa will have until the end of June to submit the report and government’s plan of action for implementing its recommendations by end-June. The president indicated to the court that he will need to have a view of the whole report before he can develop an implementation plan.
