President Cyril Ramaphosa says SA is “stuck” with him after his re-election as ANC president in December and he has no intention of resigning .
This comes after Business Day reported that Ramaphosa told his closest advisers in November that he considered resigning over his handling of the 2020 robbery at his Limpopo farm but was convinced otherwise.
Addressing an ANC briefing in Johannesburg, Ramaphosa said: “You’re stuck with me.”
He sidestepped questions about SA’s energy woes.
Ramaphosa maintained that even on Eskom CEO André de Ruyter’s alleged poisoning and subsequent resignation, he does not micromanage.
“That process is being managed by the board and my task is to appoint the right people to do the work. I would really be remiss if I told you where the process is, I don’t. I expect the board will deal with the matter actively and urgently so that the wheels don’t come off when the time comes,” Ramaphosa said.
Ramaphosa said de Ruyter resigned because “it’s a tough job,” adding that government has a “cohesive” plan to resolve the national power shortage.
