South Africa’s sugar industry is under growing pressure as a surge in imports weigh on local producers and rural jobs. The International Trade Administration Commission has initiated a review of the sugar import tariff regime, focusing on the dollar-based reference price, following concerns that cheap imports are undermining the domestic market.
