Most companies would like to attract superstars to work for them, but it takes more than free food and a competitive salary to do so.
"With each year, the employment landscape evolves dramatically and becomes more dynamic, and with this comes huge competition for the best talent," says Emma-Jane Truter, founder and head social media strategist at Emma Is Social. While some may expect this to only be a factor in big companies, small businesses also need to up their game and provide competitive and relevant benefits, she says. She advises:
Gym membership or yoga classes may sweeten the deal, but employers will need to show that they also care about their employees’ mental health and financial wellness;
If working from home is an option, it should come with an offer to help set up a comfortable home office; and
Training cannot be seen as a nice-to-have but as a fundamental part of the package to help workers keep up to date with the inevitable changes in their industry.
