My Brilliant Career: 'I treat my job as though it's my dad's business'

What does your job entail?

It is about financial stewardship, but it goes beyond the numbers. I use financial insight to help guide business strategy and operational decisions, and manage risk. It’s a dynamic space — one day I could be working on cost efficiencies and the next I’m involved in advising on our capital structure or long-term direction.

What do you think makes you good at what you do?

I lead with accountability, resilience and collaboration. I genuinely believe that nothing is impossible and encourage my team to speak up, challenge the norm and work together to find solutions. I treat every role I take on like I’m managing my father’s business.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The people. I’m incredibly fortunate to work with a team that inspires me to show up as the best version of myself every day. We share a strong sense of purpose and alignment in our values and that makes all the difference.

What are the main challenges you face at work each day?

The biggest challenge is turning opportunity into real, measurable results. I’m constantly thinking about what roadblocks we might not be seeing and how we can approach things differently. As CFO, you’re always walking the line between driving efficiency and innovating for the future.

What did you want to be when you were a child?

As a child I always had a natural love for numbers and problem-solving, so accounting came quite naturally to me as I was drawn to the idea of working in business and finance from early on.

What do you look for when recruiting people for your team?

For me, it’s all about mindset and alignment with values. I look for people who lead with accountability, who believe that nothing is impossible and who are willing to question the status quo. I want team members who treat the business like it’s their own — or like I say, “like it’s your father’s business”. It’s also important that we bring out the best in one another. Diversity of thought, resilience and the ability to collaborate meaningfully are what really make someone stand out to me.

What advice do you have for young people starting their careers?

Don’t chase titles, chase impact. Some of the most defining moments in my career had nothing to do with a title and everything to do with the responsibility I was trusted with. Always be ready to step up, own your space and take every opportunity to grow.
