Tell me about the work you do.

My role as CEO of Juno blends strategic vision, creative oversight, client relationship management and operational excellence. A key responsibility is future-proofing the agency for sustainable growth and sustainable market relevance.

I have more than 27 years of experience in the media industry. My journey began with co-founding Nota Bene Johannesburg in 2000, followed by co-founding and launching the Vizeum brand in South Africa in 2007.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with many iconic brands and I’ve also served on juries for Cannes Lions, the Loeries, and Dubai Lynx.

What services does Juno Media offer?

We are a full-service, through-the-line media agency. Our services include channel strategy and audience development, media negotiations, planning and buying, performance marketing across digital channels, content marketing and data analytics and visualisation.

How did you end up doing the work you do?

I completed a degree in industrial psychology and communications, then a postgraduate qualification at the AAA School of Advertising, where my love for the world of advertising and media began. I walked into an advertising agency as a trainee media buyer and have never looked back.

What do you think makes you good at what you do?

My love and passion for media and creativity, that I truly value relationships and partnerships, my ability to think on my feet and not being afraid of hard work or taking risks.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I work in a very dynamic industry, which needs to be at the forefront of consumer trends and behaviours. No day is ever the same, and I thrive in the fast-paced environment of deadlines and deliverables as well as the ecosystem of diversity, creativity, negotiation and brand building. I am not afraid of hard work, but I can have fun doing it.

What are the main challenges you face at work each day?

There are only 24 hours in a day.

What did you want to be when you were a child?

A marine biologist. I just loved the idea of working with sea creatures and the ocean.

What do you look for when recruiting people for your team?

Beyond the skills to do the job, I look for a person who is a self-starter, has a data-driven mindset, is excited by consumer behaviour and is a collaborator with a growth mindset.

What advice do you have for young people starting their careers?

Be curious, build relationships, adopt a growth mindset and focus on learning, not just earning.
