The Volkswagen Caddy has been enhanced for 2026. The third-generation of the compact MPV was launched in South Africa in 2022 and the latest facelift introduces a new bumper, exterior paints and new alloy wheels varying from 16-to 18-inch sizes.
It’s still available as cargo and passenger derivatives, normal or long wheelbase (Maxi), and the market-specific and camping-orientated California models. Life and Style trims remain, too, and it’s available with a petrol, diesel or eHybrid drive system depending on region.
Volkswagen Africa Group says the latest model will be made available to South African customers in the second quarter of 2027.
Six models are on sale in South Africa: three panel vans and three passenger derivatives, all powered by diesel engines with manual transmissions. The local company says it’s considering adding a model with the direct shift transmission (DSG) to the local lineup.
The Caddy is part of the VW and Ford partnership to co-develop certain models, announced in 2020. In the agreement, Ford produces the Tourneo-Transit/Kombi and Ranger/Amarok models.
Ford South Africa produces the Amarok range for world markets at its Silverton manufacturing plant in Pretoria. VW builds the Caddy, which Ford adapts as the Tourneo Connect, a model that’s no longer on sale in SA.
